RIP Google Adwords

RIP Google AdWords

On July 24th, Google made some changes regarding the branding of their advertising platform in an attempt to simplify their advertising services. Previously, Google offered a service for businesses known as Google Adwords. Adwords allowed businesses to pay to place search engine results for their website on a search engine results page (SERP) and included advertising across Search, Google Display Network, Gmail, YouTube and thousands more websites. With all the different formats it is supporting, Google Adwords seemed to outgrow its name. After 18 years, Google Adwords has been replaced with Google Ads.

However, this is more than just a name change. Google is taking 8 of their marketing tools and combining them in this new platform. This will create an ideal marketing strategy between pay-per-click, SEO, and analytics. Google Ads will allow advertisers to easily place their ads beyond the search box and create ads that help sell. They will be able to reach out to more potential customers across partner pages, video, search, and more.

Since people are becoming more and more mobile, they are now quickly switching from searching for products, to browsing content, to watching videos, and much more. Google Ads will be able to assist companies and advertise their products easily across the various channels. With this focus on mobile, Google Ads will be able to help businesses get more conversions and track them easier.
