Kicking off our festival and events marketing season, BG Digital Group embarked on covering the Pilot Mountain Outdoor Adventure Festival and Expo in mid-April. Our team headed to western North Carolina and employed our marketing strategy for events in gathering content and promotional videos.
Pilot Mountain is a gateway to adventure in Western North Carolina. Closeby are the Sauratown Mountains, which house two state parks, Pilot Mountain and Hanging Rock. This area is also part of the Mountain to Sea trail, which we know well as we have other clients that also depend on this trail for tourism visits. Millions of visitors seek out Pilot Mountain and Hanging Rock to embarq on outdoor fun and adventure. Pilot Mountain is the basecamp for all things outdoors in North Carolina so it is fitting that they hold a festival that focuses on the fun you can have in their area. For this reason and many more, we felt that this expo and event was a perfect fit for our team of promotional partnerships.
Their expo showcased amazing adventure styled vendors from local fly fishing experts, boat and kayak rental companies, to vendors that support that lifestyle like clothing companies, and lodging companies -think local campgrounds and rentals. In addition to those vendors, there were breweries because of course you want a cold drink after that long hike to relax, and dog outfitters because man’s best friend is closeby when having adventures. The event planners ensured that lots of food and fun options were there too with numerous food trucks that offered options like big meals to delicious desserts and snacks. Both evenings featured great bands that performed with rousing songs and the chance to dance with your family and friends.
There were many events planned over the weekend that offered something for everyone from leisurely 5k walks to competitive runs. One of the more strenuous events planned that weekend was the High 5 at Hanging Rock. Hikers trekked over ten miles of the park trails to reach each of the five peaks within the state park. This was a tough hike or run and not for the faint of heart so true adventurers will really enjoy this event. There is also a 5 mile option that summits only one of the peaks for those looking for a lesser challenge. To see the complete details, you can visit their website to plan for next year’s event. The Reel and Chill 5k offers runners and walkers the chance to experience a run through a winery and wooded trail. This 5k benefits Fishing for a Cure, which helps with breast cancer research.
BG Digital Group attended the event to gather photos and videos to help in promoting not only that day but for the entire next year. The Town of Pilot Mountain would like to continue to grow this event and make people aware of all of the wonderful outdoor activities there are for this area and also to promote those businesses that support those activities. We were excited to learn more about this area, meet the businesses that call Pilot Mountain home and determine strategic ways to promote this event for growth each year.
