1. You’re going to need a hashtag. It’s a great way for you and your groom to pull together all the best candid photos from your special day via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. How do you create a wedding hashtag that no one else will have? You can incorporate both of your names into the hashtag (#JohnandLisaGetHitched), or use the location, especially if it’s a destination wedding (#MarriedInMalibu). Bonus points if you use alliteration, rhyming, or a clever twist on a popular saying!
2. Decide how much social you are comfortable with. You might want to keep the ceremony private, with flash photography and cell phone use kept to a minimum. That’s your right! After all, it’s your special day. Make sure you are clear with your guests if you only want phones out during the reception.
3. Share where you’ll be looking for the photos. If you’re making signs to share the hashtag with your guests, make sure you also include where the hashtag will be used. Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are all examples of hashtag-friendly social media sites. 76% of wedding guests who posted photos shared them to Facebook, while 54% shared to Instagram
4. Put your phone away— let others do the work for you! The last thing you want is a bunch of pictures of the bride and groom on their phones the whole night. Let your guests take the pictures and enjoy your day living in the moment. The pictures will still be there in the morning!
