Every great love story has a beginning, and every great social media marketing strategy begins with choosing the right platforms. The beauty of social media marketing is that it allows us to meet our target audience on their home ground. When you use the proper channels you can cultivate an engaging online community of brand advocates, turning followers into customers.

Deciding what social media platforms to utilize in your marketing can feel a lot like dating. Will they help me grow? Will they meet my needs? Am I forcing this to work?

In our newest blog series, Social Media Matches Made in Heaven, our team is playing matchmaker and helping you swipe right and left the best platforms for your business. The first potential suitor in our series is none other than Facebook.

Facebook’s Bio

Founded in 2004, Facebook is the OG social media network. Originally designed to connect Harvard students with one another, this platform has since expanded to every corner of the world and become a household name in Big Tech. With roughly 2.93 billion users in Q1 of 2022, Facebook is the reigning king of social media.

In terms of dating, you definitely want this guy on your roster. Think of this platform as the successful guy with a solid foundation. Facebook isn’t leaving anytime soon, and it’s a great way to get started on your social media marketing journey.

Why Does Facebook Stand Out?

Facebook has always had skin in the social media game. Between its acquisition of companies like Instagram and WhatsApp and its recent rebranding to Meta, Facebook is a social media mogul. Making up the majority of the platform’s 8 million advertisers, small businesses helped Facebook rake in over $28 billion dollars in ad revenue in Q3 of 2021.

So why do so many small businesses utilize Facebook in their marketing? It more than likely has to do with the inordinate amount of user data Meta collects, making it extremely efficient in target marketing. Using what you know about your audience – like age, location, and other details – you can select the demographics, interests, and behaviors that best represent your audience when creating your paid advertisements. This takes the guesswork out of your advertising strategy and ensures that your ads are reaching those who are most likely to become customers of your business.

Facebook Marketing Tips

Using Facebook is a great way to build the foundation of your social media marketing strategy. Not sure where to begin? Here are some helpful tips:

Keep Your Account Up to Date

Picture this: you’ve just met the person of your dreams. They’re funny, attractive, and share similar values and passions. They give you their number but when you try to call them later that night (or three days later if you’re old school), you find out that number is no longer in service! You’re sure that they were just as interested, so what gives?

The same idea applies to your Facebook account! Make sure your hours, number, location, and website are all included in your bio and updated as needed.

Include Links to Your Website

In terms of dating, you can flirt all you want but nothing will happen if you never shoot your shot!

The majority of your social media posts should include a call-to-action, better known as a CTA. CTAs offer your audience the opportunity to venture deeper into your sales funnel by way of reading your latest blog, giving your office a call, or visiting your website for more information. Adding a shortened URL link (we prefer Bitly) to the end of your post is the easiest way to bring in more website traffic.

Don’t have a website for your business? We can fix that!

Consistency Is Key

Your audience wants to be courted! A random text every other week won’t keep a prospective partner interested, and scattered posts throughout the month won’t be enough to keep your audience engaged with your business.

For small businesses, we recommend an absolute minimum of three posts per week. Anything less could leave a window of opportunity for a competitor to swoop in and steal your prospective customer.

Swipe Right or Left on Facebook?

While our team recommends using Facebook in your social media strategy, you know your business best! Even if Facebook isn’t the right fit for you, there’s still plenty of other fish in the sea that we’ll discuss later in our series.
