Megan is a new intern at BG Digital Group for the 2019 summer. As a rising senior at Appalachian State University, she has made a lot of impressive accomplishments throughout her time in both her academic and school involvement. Megan is completing a major in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing and a minor in Apparel Design and Merchandising. She has gained real-world experience with her jobs in retail and apparel at Pinehurst Country Club and Dick’s Sporting Goods, learning about such things as store sales, merchandise stocking and team collaboration. In her involvement as an Intramural Sports Director at college, she has been able to translate her classroom and job knowledge into the organization through creating advertisements to increase participation in intramurals on campus. One of her favorite things about college has been the flexibility she has in her schedule. She’s able to have more afternoon classes, which she says gives her more nights that feel like weekends since she can sleep in more the next morning. Additionally, she has loved living with her friends each year and choosing class topics that truly interest her and benefit her future career goals. In her time away from work and school, Megan has enjoyed spending time volunteering at Campbell’s Kids for A Cure with her dad, helping to raise money to contribute to the second largest Relay for Life fundraiser in the United States. This event has been a special opportunity for her to come together with the community and see everyone help a great cause.
Morehead City is a new town to Megan and her family, originally from Pinehurst, NC. With this new experience ahead, she is looking forward to exploring this small beach town this summer. She enjoys playing tennis and is excited to have a lot of beach days. One of her favorite things to do with her family is ride on the boat. Most of the time her and her mom get dropped off to relax at the beach while her two older brothers and dad go fishing. However, her family enjoys the sun as much as the snow, where she has had a lot of great memories on the slopes each year on family ski trips.
Along with these hobbies and activities planned for the summer, Megan will be working at Beaufort Proper, a retail store located in Beaufort. This will be a perfect fit with her love of shopping and hopes to learn more about apparel merchandising. Megan has spent a lot of time in apparel but is also interested in learning more about how to promote businesses through digital marketing. That’s why she has set a goal to learn more about digital marketing in her time at BG Digital Group. She is excited to see the new skills she has yet to learn while she contributes to various client accounts on the BG team. With her jobs at Beaufort Proper and BG Digital Group, Megan hopes to have a very hands-on experience in the marketing and apparel industries to prepare her for her future in marketing!
